Many people have trouble in deciding whether they should go for a laptop or desktop. This may be based on several factors which include portability, efficiency, performance, price, versatility, and flexibility, among others. In this article, we will talk about laptop and desktop computers.

Laptops

A laptop or a notebook is a portable personal computer with a clamshell form factor, suitable for mobile use. There was a difference between laptops and notebooks in the past, but nowadays it has gradually died away. Laptops are commonly used in a variety of settings, including at work, in education, and for personal multimedia.

1.Portability

Laptops are very portable due to their compact size. They were designed to be taken from place to place, carried in a backpack or laptop carrying case. They are great for on-the-go use. What you need is the necessary carrying mates that include a bag and the battery and maybe a wireless device like a modem broadband; and you will be able browse anywhere.

2.Batteries and Security

Laptops have rechargeable batteries which enable you to use them for some time in case of a power interruption and there is lower risk of losing data in such a sudden power interruption.

3.Colorful

Laptops come in a variety of colors ranging from pink to green, black, white, green, yellow, etc. The pink brands have grown in popularity and manufacturers have reported increasing sales of their pink laptops.

4.Ease of use

Laptops are built to be easy to use, requiring little time to get running. Take it out of the box, plug it in and press the power button. Within minutes, the laptop is ready to use. You can do your work immediately.

LAPTOP VS DESKTOP

Desktops

The term has been adopted as an adjective to distinguish office appliances (such as photocopiers and printers) which can be fitted on top of a desk, from larger equipment covering its own area on the floor. Here are some advantages about desktops.

1.Cost

There is a wide variety of component options available for desktops, allowing for a large range of prices, but the starting point is relatively cheap. Desktops can start as low as $400 for a full package (computer & monitor) and still be a pretty powerful system.

2.Upgrading

Most components in a desktop are easily removable, making it easier to upgrade and since desktop cases are usually much bigger they’re easier to work in when doing any upgrading.

3.Security

Desktops can resist the effects of viruses and other malware and do not easily crash as a result of their infection. Most businesses which offer internet browsing services prefer desktops because of this feature.

4.Storage

It’s easier for a desktop computer to have a bigger memory and to hold more RAM than a laptop computer simply because there is more space available for the storage. The space in a desktop computer will often allow the user to choose almost unlimited accessories and options that a laptop computer just may not have the space to hold.

Read the above tips about laptop and desktop computers, I think you can have a good choice to choose a better one for you.

Computer Freezes?-Just to Fix It

Computer freezing is one of the most troublesome problems that you might come up against. When you are in the middle of a project, or playing a game, then all of a sudden your computer freezes up. No matter how hard you try to get your computer to come back to life the only thing you can do is manually hit the power button. This will cause you to lose all the information that you have not saved before the computer freezes. It can be a giant pain in your mind.

You definitely want to know what cause your computer freezing because you are angry with it. A number of things can cause you computer to freeze, like low memory, viruses, too many temporary internet files and registry errors.  Now let’s talk about them in detail.

1. Registry errors

Registry is one of the most important parts of Windows system, and it is extremely delicate. If there is a slight error in the registry, the communication can also be broken down. The breakdown of communication leads to your system not being able to send orders to programs, software and device drivers. Then all the applications would stop and your computer will freeze.

2. Virus

The most common computer ailment is a virus. Viruses can do a number of things to a computer. While they’re stealing your data or ruining your files, they’re using up precious system resources that could be used for other important tasks. By running in the background without your permission, a virus could sap away all of your processing power or available system memory to break your machine down.

3. Disk Defrag

Because you haven’t defragged your hard drive for a long time, it’s hard for a computer to find out what you want correctly. Defragmenting your hard drive takes all of your “scrambled” data and reorganizes it so that it’s easier for the computer to find. Just like a messy desk with papers all over the place, a computer sometimes needs to take time to reorganize the data it has.

After finding out what cause the computer freezes, we would like to find out some easy fixes to the problem and your computer is running faster.

1. Invest in a Registry Cleaner

Every computer has a Windows registry and it is estimated that every computer user has an average of 1,000 registry errors at any given time. This can cause your computer to freeze up. This situation is easily remedied though with the purchase of a registry cleaner. Don’t try to clean your Windows registry yourself.

2. Fixing virus or spyware infections

Run a full system scan to check for problems and remove any potential threats. A virus or spyware infection on your computer might also be the source of freeze issues. If you don’t have an antivirus or antispyware tools on your system, purchase and install one; otherwise, check the program’s website to make sure that you’re running the latest version.

3. Fixing Issues with System Resources

When large files or complex applications are being handled, shut down any running application or background utilities you don’t need for the project you’re working on. This frees up CPU time and RAMS space. At the same time, don’t click something frequently and there will be no chance for a computer to freeze up.

Computer freeze is a big problem. I hope you can learn something useful in my article and solve the computer freezing problem.

Pay Attention to the Security of WiFi

The terms ‘WiFi service’ and ‘802.11′ are quite popular today. People can search the internet with the free WiFi when they are eating, shopping or playing. It’s convenient and interesting.

What is WiFi?

Wi-Fi (or WiFi) is a local area wireless technology that allows an electronic device to participate in computer networking using 2.4 GHz UHF and 5 GHz SHF ISM radio bands. The above statement is too professional. In other words, WiFi is the other name for wireless internet or wireless network.

How WiFi Works?

Wi-Fi works with no physical wired connection between sender and receiver by using radio frequency (RF) technology, a frequency within the electromagnetic spectrum associated with radio wave propagation.

Wi-Fi is widely used in businesses, agencies, schools, and homes as an alternative to a wired LAN. Many airports, hotels, and fast-food restaurants offer public access to Wi-Fi networks. These locations are known as hot spots. Many charge a daily or hourly rate for access, but some are free.

wifi 2

Growth of WiFi networks is still on going world wide and this huge growth causes security issues. WiFi is the most widely used network world wide and many organizations transfer their sensitive data using Wireless networks. Increased use of Wireless network increases potentially risks of the security of the users or organization.

Ways to Protect Your WiFi

Most Wi-Fi equipment is shipped with security disabled to make it very easy to set up your network. Most access points, routers, and gateways are shipped with a default network name (SSID), and administrative credentials (username and password) to make configuration as simple as possible. These default settings should be changed immediately when you set up your network.

1. Password

All you really need is a strong password on your Wi-Fi, using at least WPA or WPA-TKIP or WPA-PSK encryption. The password should have a mix of numbers and letters. Something like your birthdates and then your middle name or your first name all in capitals is pretty good.

2. WEP and WPA

WEP and WPA are only what are used to secure the wireless. Once your data reaches the router it is no longer encrypted and is subject to security issues. Therefore the optimum approach to security is to use WPA and a personal vpn to encrypt all of your local data. The VPN ensures that anyone cannot read your data when snoop anywhere on the network.

Different Types

Different versions of the 802.11 standard have been released over the years, often indicated by a letter following the designation. Wireless-G, for example, introduced numerous improvements over the initial standard such as higher transfer rates.

It is important for a computer or device user to recognize what type of WiFi their device uses, to ensure compatibility with the router creating a hotspot. As the technology continues to improve, additional designations are likely to be released, though they are often backward compatible with earlier versions.

Pay attention to the security of WiFi, no matter you are at home or outside. In this way, you can enjoy the happiness from WiFi.

What is Laptop?

A laptop or a notebook is a portable personal computer with a clamshell form factor, suitable for mobile use. There was a difference between laptops and notebooks in the past, but nowadays it has gradually died away. Laptops are commonly used in a variety of settings, including at work, in education, and for personal multimedia.

Laptop computers are no longer the poor cousins of desktop tower PCs. The best laptop computers can compete with desktops in processing power and storage, making them robust enough to replace desktops in most families.

When going to buy a laptop, individuals consider different specifications to suit their needs. Finding the desired laptop can seem a daunting task since there are numerous brands in the market. Due to technological advancement, many laptop manufacturers have emerged and if not careful, you maybe go into the traps set by the merchants.

It’s always a hard decision to make as to which laptop to choose from the wide range of available options. So, when you decide to buy a laptop, please polish your eyes.

What’s Laptop Computer Require?

1. A new laptop should have 1GB of RAM and a 100GB hard drive at a minimum, and it’s worth paying extra for more memory. The newest Mac and Windows operating systems consume large amounts of RAM, so it’s hard for an underpowered laptop to run software.

2. A new laptop should have either a dual-processor AMD chip or a dual-core Intel chip. This new technology splits processor functions between two integrated chips, providing a more speed and processing power. Processor speeds are measured in gigahertz (GHz).

Tips to Choose a Better Laptop

1. If you have enough money and are in need of a good laptop, Mac laptop is the good choice. Mac laptops are very popular at the moment, particularly the Mac Book Air, which is the lightest and thinnest laptop available. It’s very easy to carry on, and the performance of it is good.

2. Screen Considerations

Laptops with LED displays provide better life. Screens contribute to the overall cost of a laptop, and larger screens cost more. Screen size also determines the overall size of the computer, which affects the weight, keyboard size and battery life. You’ll be very close to the screen while you use your laptop, so a smaller screen is fine unless you can’t watch clearly or need a larger keyboard.

3. Who will use the computer?

Is it for a college student, a staff member at your office? You need to think more about this. Different people need different types. If the laptop is for a college student, maybe the beautiful exterior is better. But when the staff needs a laptop, maybe the security and the storage are necessary.
